Black Rock Beach Maui
There are so many great beaches for families in Maui, and one of our favorites is Black Rock Beach. This beach tops my list for a variety of reasons, but what makes it unique is the black lava rock that is a popular cliff jumping spot. It’s also a great snorkeling spot. It should definitely be on any Maui travel itinerary. Here’s everything you need to know to plan your visit to Black Rock Beach Maui. Also, if you’re not sure where you are going to stay in Maui, be sure to check out this list of the best Maui family hotels. You can also check out these amazing restaurants…

Spring Cove Campground, Bass Lake
Doing a mountain/ lake camping trip is one of our favorite traditions, and this summer we discovered a hidden gem of a campground: Spring Cove Campground at Bass Lake. If you’re looking for a California lake to camp at, this might be just the spot for you. We love camping in Yosemite, but those campsites are so hard to get, especially when coordinating with a group. So for the past several years, we’ve been trying out other campgrounds on lakes. Choosing Where to Camp We spent a week camping at Pinecrest Lake (and we loved it!) over the last two summers, but this year we decided to venture out again…

Niagara Falls With Kids
It might not come as a surprise to you that I love waterfalls. So it would only make sense for me to visit one of the most famous waterfalls in North America: Niagara Falls. We decided to visit Niagara Falls with kids and make a fun little family vacation out of it. We took our toddlers and flew to Niagara Falls toward the end of September, and the weather was excellent. I didn’t have much of an agenda, but I knew we had to do the iconic Maid of the Mist boat tour so that we could really see the falls in all their glory. Note: This post contains affiliate…

A Scenic Adventure: Hiking Yosemite’s Panorama Trail
In case it’s not obvious by now, I love a good waterfall. And the waterfalls at Yosemite National Park are my absolute favorite. That’s why I absolutely love The Panorama Trail in Yosemite–it brings you up close and personal to three of the most stunning waterfalls at Yosemite National Park. The Panorama Trail is one of the best hikes in all of Yosemite, and is definitely one of the most scenic. And it’s not nearly as crowded as any of the other famous hikes, like Half Dome, Vernal Falls or Yosemite Falls. Yet it offers spectacular views of both Vernal Falls, Nevada Falls and another less-known (but still gorgeous) waterfall,…

Makaleha Falls: A Kauai Waterfall Hike
When it comes to family-friendly hikes in Kauai, I’m not sure I’d put the hike to Makaleha Falls on the list, simply due to that fact that this hike was not well-marked and there was a lot of guess work involved. It involves crossing the stream several times, climbing over rocks and branches, and a lot of second guessing. But, it’s also a lot of fun. As far as the ability to do it? My kids, ages 10, 9 and 6 at the time, had no issue. It was more the nervousness of us parents, questioning if we were going to end up in the right spot, and if we…

Family-Friendly Hiking Trails in Yosemite
The first time I ever went to Yosemite, it was just my mom, my sister, and our five kids, ranging in age from 2 months old to 6 years old. We were prepared to simply camp in Yosemite, but upon entering into the Valley, I knew I wanted to explore it all. I just didn’t know how that would be possible with kids and strollers so I was on a hunt to find some easy hikes in Yosemite that I could do with kids. Yosemite truly is one of the best national parks for kids. There is so much beauty that can be seen in the Valley without going on…

Top 6 Family Activities in Balboa Island
As a child, one of my favorite family summer outings was when my family would take a drive to Balboa Island in Newport Beach. We owned a timeshare in San Clemente, so this was a day trip we would do every year during the summer. And it was one of my favorite things to do in San Clemente. If you are planning a visit, these are my absolute favorite Balboa Island things to do. Balboa Island is located right in the heart of Orange County, but somehow has the charm of a sleepy beach town in a more remote location (although the parking definitely feels more Orange County-like). It’s a…

Best Hotels and Camping at Zion National Park
Zion is one of the best national parks for kids, and it’s easy to see why. If you’re planning a Utah family vacation there, you have many great options for staying near Zion National Park (or even in it) depending on your preferences for lodging type (hotels, vacation rentals, or camping). When we recently visited, we stayed at the Watchman Campground just inside the park. But if you’re not up for camping, there are many hotels and lodges that are just steps away. If you’re wondering where to stay for Zion National Park, I have you covered. Be sure to check out my 1-day Zion itinerary as well if your…
