Bahamas Wyndham Fortuna Beach: An All-Inclusive Resort

One of my all-time favorite family trips we’ve ever taken was when we stayed a week at the all-inclusive Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort. Now one could argue that any all-inclusive in the Bahamas would probably be amazing, and I’m sure that’s true. But the Wyndham Bahamas Fortuna Beach resort had something specific that made this trip like no other: a trapeze!

When we booked our stay at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort, I was a little bit nervous because the reviews were all over the board. We were just looking for a fun family vacation in paradise. And we wanted all meals and drinks included so we’d never have to leave the resort. So needless to say, our expectations weren’t set too high.

What to Do at the Bahamas Wyndham Fortuna Beach
My sister and her family joined us on this trip, so altogether we had 3 kids ranging in age from 4 years to 9 months. (Check out my post on tips for flying with toddlers–many of these tips were used on this flight!) This resort was very kid friendly, and had a lot to offer for various age groups. There is a kids club for kids ages 4 and up, however, we didn’t ever utilize it during our stay.
The beach in front of the Wyndham Fortuna Beach resort is absolutely gorgeous. There’s even a reef straight out that provides some decent snorkeling options without having to leave the resort.

The beach resort hosted various competitions, like beach volleyball, and game-show type activities. There were nightly performances, which the kids enjoyed. There was also archery, which I personally really enjoyed–something unique that you don’t find at most resorts.

But as I mentioned above, the trapeze was the absolute highlight of our trip. When I was first climbing up, I thought there was no way I was actually going to go through with it. It’s so high! But the people working the trapeze are so incredibly strong, and I felt very safe having them hold on to me.
Most people do the trapeze just to say they did it, and they’re off to the beach. Not us. We’d beg to learn new tricks, record all of them so that we could watch and improve, and then we’d be back at it the next day. Illaria and “Pudgy” were the employees who absolutely made our trip (and who we are still connected with via Facebook). I know they have both moved on, but hopefully the new staff is just as amazing as those two were.

The Food
As far as the food went at the Bahamas Wyndham Fortuna Beach resort, we were very pleased with the variety of options and the quality of the food. We ate at the buffet for most meals, however we did try out both the pizza restaurant and the Mexican restaurant, which require reservations. We enjoyed both.

Mixed Reviews of the Bahamas Wyndham Fortuna Beach
I was recently looking up reviews on this resort, and they still seem to be all over the place. Many people who visit the Bahamas Wyndham Fortuna Beach have great things to say about the customer service, as well as the beach and the pool.
The complaints are mostly about the outdated buildings that are in need of some revamping, along with some complaints about the quality of food and drinks. I’ve stayed at enough all-inclusive resorts to know that there will always be people expecting top-notch food and beverages, and you can’t please everyone. But as far as the outdated grounds, I’m sure this Wyndham Bahamas resort could use a major renovation.
My advice is to check reviews regularly if you plan to visit. As long as most of the recent reviews are positive, I would take the negative ones with a grain of salt. You’ll always have complainers.

Final Thoughts About the Bahamas Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort
I would love to go back to a resort that has a trapeze again. It is such a unique amenity, and truly added so much fun to our trip. There are two other Viva Wyndham all-inclusive resorts that have a trapeze. And one of those has excellent reviews: The Viva Wyndham Maya – An All-Inclusive Resort. I am looking into booking a trip to this resort with my family in the upcoming months.

I’d love to go back and give a more recent review of the Bahamas Wyndham Fortuna Beach resort in its current state. It was several years ago when we visited. Until then, there are other ways to enjoy the resort amenities. If you are taking a Bahamas cruise, you can book this resort as an excursion to spend the day at. If you will be staying at a different hotel in the Bahamas, you can also book day trips over to the Fortuna Beach Resort. We met a few other families doing this when we stayed, and they all wished they were staying longer!
