JW Marriott San Antonio Water Park Resort

A view of the JW Marriott San Antonio water park from my room's balcony

When we were planning our visit to San Antonio, Texas over spring break, we looked at several hotel options in Hill Country. But once I saw the waterslides and lazy river at the JW Marriott San Antonio water park, I didn’t need to look any further. I knew this San Antonio resort would be a great option for my kids and their cousins (plus you know I love a lazy river).

Enjoying the lazy river at the JW Marriott San Antonio water park

Because we were visiting both Austin and San Antonio during our spring break trip, we only booked two nights at the JW resort But they were the last two nights of our trip, so it was definitely like the cherry on top. We used free nights from my Marriott credit card to stay here for free. When we booked it, we didn’t realize we’d be there for the Valero Open. That means it would’ve been a pain to come and go from the resort, but luckily, we had no intention of leaving once we were there.

Our favorite part was definitely the JW Marriott San Antonio water park: River Bluff Water Experience. This 9-acre waterpark consisted of water slides, an impressive 1100-ft. lazy river, a kid’s pool with small waterslides, a whirlpool spa and a sand beach pool. There was food and beverage service offered at the pool, and plenty of chaise lounges to choose from.

Other Fun Things to Do

Besides the JW Marriott San Antonio water park, there are other fun activities for kids at the resort. One is a fun scavenger hunt throughout the hotel. The kids were given a list of things to find and take pictures of, and then once complete, they would get to exchange for a prize at the front desk.

As far as rooms go, I think they were plenty spacious and comfortable. Our room had a Juliet balcony, with beautiful views of the resort.

There are a handful of restaurants to choose from at the resort, ranging from a fine-dining steakhouse to a much more casual sports bar. There is also a Starbucks in the resort. We made it easy on ourselves by ordering pizza the first night. On our full day at the resort, we ordered lunch by the pool and and enjoyed dinner at the sports bar.

I love that the resort had a beautiful patio area just outside the main lobby and restaurants, where the kids could all run around and play. Our boys immediately joined in with another group who was playing some football in the grass. There was also an inside-game area, with shuffleboard and chess/checkers. It all made for a very family-friendly atmosphere.

Another perk was watching the fireworks at the resort. I’m not sure how often these fireworks happen, but we stayed on a Wednesday and Thursday night, and they went off on the Thursday night. It was a true finale to an amazing vacation. Overall, I can definitely see why this resort tops the list of the best San Antonio family resorts and the most fun hotels for kids in the U.S.

You can also book using points if you have a travel credit card that you use. I was able to stay for free using points I earned from my favorite travel credit card.

Thanks for reading my post. My name is Jaime and I am a mom to three busy children. When we're not at the soccer and football fields, we try to get away as often as possible. I'm a teacher and my husband is a firefighter, so we mostly get away for long weekends or over the school breaks. I hope to inspire busy families to take time to recoup and relax while making memories on camping trips or cruise ships, or at the fancy resort pool--we love it all!
