All Aboard the Magic: Best Polar Express Train Rides Across the U.S. 🚂🎅✨

Enjoying a Polar Express experience train ride

If your kids (or let’s be honest—you) love the magic of Christmas, few things bring it to life quite like a real-life Polar Express experience. Pajamas? Check. Hot cocoa? Check. Golden ticket in hand? Check. Across the U.S., railroads bring this beloved story to life each holiday season with immersive train rides inspired by the classic book and movie.

I always knew I wanted to take my kids on a Polar Express train ride at least once during their childhood—it just felt like one of those magical, memory-making experiences. At the time, I only knew about the popular version in Williams, AZ. But after we went and I shared some photos, I was surprised by how many friends and readers reached out with stories of their own Polar Express adventures in other parts of the country.

That inspired me to dig deeper and put together a list of some of the most beloved and festive Polar Express experiences across the U.S.—from cozy towns in New England to snowy mountain routes out west. Whether you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway or a big holiday tradition, there’s likely a magical train ride not too far from home.

Thanks for reading my post. My name is Jaime and I am a mom to three busy children. When we're not at the soccer and football fields, we try to get away as often as possible. I'm a teacher and my husband is a firefighter, so we mostly get away for long weekends or over the school breaks. I hope to inspire busy families to take time to recoup and relax while making memories on camping trips or cruise ships, or at the fancy resort pool--we love it all!
