Best Hotels for Families in Maui

In case you’re new to my blog, you should know that I love a good resort pool. Lazy rivers, water slides, poolside drinks… I love it all. And even when I stay in Maui, where the beaches are beautiful, I still want a nice pool to relax at when I’m at the hotel. I also want close proximity to the beach. Especially when I have my kids with me. The easier the better. And if there is a beach we can walk to without having to deal with parking, that’s about as easy as it can get. The following hotels have earned a place in my heart and a place on my list of the best hotels for families Maui edition.
Maui is definitely one of our favorite Hawaiian islands. There are great hikes, beautiful beaches and lots of cute towns to visit. Plus, the Road to Hana is a fun experience with lots of opportunity for exploring. You can see all of my favorite activities in this 5-day Maui itinerary.
Maui also has a spectacular dining scene. Check out this list of the best restaurants in Maui.

Maui is considered one of the best Hawaiian islands for families due to its swimmable coves, beginner-friendly snorkeling options, and a wide range of family-friendly restaurants. You’ll find a wide range of family-friendly hotels in Maui, primarily concentrated in Wailea and Ka’anapali. It’s easy to find Maui family friendly resorts that suit your needs.
In addition to great accommodations, Maui offers a variety of kid-friendly activities. You’ll find farm tours, snorkeling tours, and easy hikes, making it a wonderful destination for family vacations.
The Grand Wailea – An upscale hotel in Maui for families
The Grand Wailea is widely recognized as one of the best family resorts on Maui, making it an excellent choice for families traveling with kids. The main pools at this resort are truly impressive, featuring an extensive pool area with nine pools, four waterslides, a lazy river, and a rope swing—making it one of the most family-friendly hotels in Maui. These main pools are a major draw for families, offering a variety of fun and relaxing options for all ages.
Plus, the Grand Wailea also provides luxury amenities for families, ensuring a comfortable and memorable stay. And there are tons of activities on site for the kids to take part in, including a kids club and various water activities. But like at most luxurious resorts, these things come with a price tag.
Many resorts in Maui, including the Grand Wailea, offer complimentary family amenities such as baby gear, highchairs, and children’s bath products to make your stay even easier. And right outside your resort, you will find beautiful Wailea Beach, which is one of my favorite beaches for kids on all of Maui.
Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka’anapali – My personal favorite Maui family resort

I love Ka’anapali Beach and Lahaina, so I typically choose to stay on that side of the island. The Westin Maui Resort & Spa is located right on the scenic Ka’anapali Beach, known for its beautiful shoreline, vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere, and family-friendly vibe.
There are numerous resorts to choose from over there, many that make my list of best hotels for families Maui, but the Westin Maui Resort & Spa is one of my favorite Ka’anapali resorts. This Maui resort has 5 different pools, a couple of waterslides, and convenient beach access. Plus it’s a short walk to Black Rock Beach from here–a favorite spot for snorkeling and cliff jumping. Ka’anapali Beach itself is also considered one of the best spots for family snorkeling in Maui.
This Maui family resort has an on-site luau available if you’re looking to experience this fun Hawaiian tradition. It also offers paid kids club options, if you’re looking to get a few hours to yourself. Whalers Village, a popular shopping and entertainment complex with family-friendly dining and attractions, is within walking distance. So it’s easy to enjoy meals and activities nearby.
Some Maui resorts also offer ‘eat free’ promotions for kids, so be sure to check for these family-friendly perks when booking your stay.
Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas

Not far from the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, you’ll find the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas. Part of the Marriott Vacation Club, these ocean-front Marriott resort villas provide spacious rooms with separate living spaces, kitchens and even washers and dryers, offering easy access to the beach and scenic views.
And there’s no shortage of entertainment on the property. You’ll find several pools, water play structures, playgrounds and more, as well as a huge beach that stretches out in front of the property, providing plenty of space for family activities and room to run.
Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa

Six pools, a 150′ waterslide, a rope bridge and waterfalls are just some of the amazing features you’ll find at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. In addition to the fun pool areas, this beach-front family resort on Maui also provides easy beach access. And if you have the World of Hyatt credit card, you can book free nights at this resort.
You’ll find penguins at this resort (I know, in Hawaii–you would’ve thought??) And this Hyatt resort hosts several on-site events, like their on-site luau and a mermaid swim academy, giving you easy access to lots of fun.
Wailea Beach Resort – Beautiful Maui family resort

Wailea is known for its upscale, spacious resorts with great amenities. It’s a top destination for families seeking comfort and convenience. And fun fact: want to know where to find the longest waterslide in all of Hawaii? Yep, at the Wailea Beach Resort.
Located right next to the upscale Grand Wailea Resort, the Wailea Beach Resort offers some amazing amenities at a much lower price point, including luxury amenities that set it apart from many other family hotels. It definitely deserves a spot on my list of best hotels for families Maui.
In addition to the spectacular waterslides, the Wailea Beach Resort is known for having multiple pools and a game room for kids, making it a popular choice for families. The game room is complete with a movie theater and plenty of activities to keep children entertained. There is also a kids club, however it’s only open seasonally. And just a quick stroll down the beach path will get you to the beautiful Wailea Beach.
Fairmont Kea Lani – One of the best hotels for families in Maui

The Fairmont Kea Lani is a luxury hotel that is going to cost a bit more than some of the other hotels on this list, but with that comes some extra perks as well. First off, the rooms at this hotel are all suites. One, two and three-bedroom suites. So space is not an issue. Having a family of 5 myself, I know it’s always a struggle to figure out how to fit everyone and who gets which bed. These spacious rooms eliminate that struggle.
Another perk of this Maui family resort is that the pools are open 24 hours a day. That can also be a negative, depending on where your room is. But while your kids are adjusting to the time changes, you don’t need to worry about any strict pool schedule. You are free to enjoy it at all hours. And the pools are a lot of fun. You’ll find a 140′ waterslide, a basketball hoop and a separate kids pool. Added bonus: complimentary sunscreen is available at the pool.
Included in the resort fee is a kids club for kids between the ages of 5-12, and there are also activities at the resort that the kids will enjoy, like the Koi feedings and Mermaid University.
Accommodations for Large Families

I have a family of 5, so I know that traveling with a large family can sometimes make finding the right accommodations a challenge. But Maui’s top resorts make it easy to keep everyone comfortable and happy.
If you’re looking for extra space, the Fairmont Kea Lani is a standout choice. It offers all-suite accommodations—including luxurious three-bedroom suites—so everyone can spread out and relax. The spacious suites at this resort are perfect for families who want a little more privacy and room to unwind after a day of adventure.
Another excellent option is the Honua Kai Resort. There, you’ll find three-bedroom suites that are over 2,000 square feet—plenty of space for the whole family to gather, play, and recharge. The resort’s multiple pools and easy beach access make it a favorite among families who want both convenience and comfort.
The Wailea Beach Resort also caters to larger families with its roomy suites and villas, many of which offer stunning ocean views. Kids will love the vibrant pool area and seasonal kids club, while parents appreciate the resort’s relaxing atmosphere and proximity to beautiful Wailea Beach.
For those seeking a blend of luxury and family fun, the Grand Wailea features spacious rooms and suites. Plus, it has a lazy river and thrilling water slides that are always a hit with kids. And if you’re dreaming of a truly upscale experience, the Four Seasons Resort Maui offers expansive suites and villas, along with thoughtful touches like complimentary sunscreen and the unique Mermaid University program for kids.
No matter which resort you choose, you’ll find that Maui’s best family resorts go above and beyond to make sure large families have everything they need for a memorable and stress-free vacation.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, Maui stands out as a dream destination for families, thanks to its breathtaking beaches, lush landscapes, and an incredible selection of family-friendly resorts. Whether you’re drawn to the action-packed Wailea Beach Resort or the luxurious amenities at the Grand Wailea, there’s a perfect Maui family resort for every type of traveler. With so many family friendly resorts—including favorites like the Hyatt Regency, Fairmont Kea Lani, and Four Seasons—you’ll have access to great locations, several pools, and easy, short walks to the beach. Many of these resorts offer thoughtful extras like complimentary sunscreen, kids clubs, and spacious suites, making it easy to relax and focus on making memories together.
