Barclay Wyndham Credit Card Benefits Explained

The Barclay Wyndham credit card3

When I was first starting to dabble in the credit card travel reward perks, one of the cards that really caught my attention was the Barclay Wyndham Rewards Visa. There are two options with this card: one with a $75 annual fee and one that has no annual fee.

There are a ton of great travel credit cards to choose from. What intrigued me about the Wyndham rewards card is that the one with the $75 annual fee gives you enough bonus points each year to be eligible for a free night. So basically, each year I get to stay in a hotel for just $75.

I’m not sure about you, but I never seem to find rooms that cheap. So right off the bat, I knew I could get my money’s worth from the Barclay Wyndham card.

The Wyndham hotel chain might not consist of the most high-end luxury resorts. But they are a large chain with locations everywhere. We have used our Wyndham credit card points when we are taking longer road trips and need to break the trip up with a quick overnight stay. They’ve also been great for out-of-town soccer tournaments. Or when we are visiting amusement parks and want to stay nearby.

All-Inclusive Wyndham Resorts

The Wyndham chain also consists of their Viva Wyndham All-Inclusive Resorts. These are located in the Caribbean and Mexico. We have stayed at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach resort in the Bahamas, using free nights from our Wyndham credit card. This is a great option for families who are looking for all-inclusive resorts without the high cost.

Additional Perks of the Wyndham Credit Card

With the Barclay Wyndham Earner+ card, you get automatic platinum status. This gives your extra perks like early check in, late check out, preferred rooms and free wi-fi.

With the introductory offer on this Wyndham credit card, you can get enough points for up to 5 free nights. Occasionally they offer even more introductory points. Then, even if you don’t use this card in following years, you will get the 7500 anniversary points each year, enough for a free night at select hotels. (Note: This only applies to the earner+ card; the free card requires a minimum purchase each year to earn the anniversary points.)

Finally, even if you don’t have enough points for a free room, the Wyndham Credit Card offers a “go fast” option. With this, you pay a partial amount of points (1,500, 3,000 or 6,000) up front. Then you pay the remaining, super-discounted amount in cash. That helps your points stretch even further. And if you use your Wyndham card to pay the balance, you will earn 6 points per dollar on Wyndham purchases.

Thanks for reading my post. My name is Jaime and I am a mom to three busy children. When we're not at the soccer and football fields, we try to get away as often as possible. I'm a teacher and my husband is a firefighter, so we mostly get away for long weekends or over the school breaks. I hope to inspire busy families to take time to recoup and relax while making memories on camping trips or cruise ships, or at the fancy resort pool--we love it all!
