Relaxing Getaway at Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel

Last weekend, my girlfriends and I treated ourselves to a little desert escape at the Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel—and let me tell you, it was exactly what we needed. we had originally planned to make a weekend out of it, but life quickly got busy with youth sports and other obligations. So instead of booking an overnight stay, we decided to grab a resort pass (we actually scored with a cabana rental) and just spend the day soaking up everything this little gem has to offer. It ended up being the perfect blend of relaxation, good food, and fun vibes.
Brunch + Drinks at Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel

First things first: the food. Their brunch menu is way better than you’d expect for such a tucked-away spot. Think fluffy pancakes, avocado toast with just the right amount of crunch, chilaquiles, and so many other favorites. They also have a great selection of lunch and dinner items. But the real highlight? The drinks. We went straight for the mimosas (because girls’ day, obviously), but the cocktail list had so many fun options—fresh, colorful, and definitely Instagram-worthy.
The Hotel

The Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel is pretty intimate — the main hotel has about 20 artisan rooms plus two larger suites. The decor in these rooms is absolutely charming. According to their website, “every element was considered with an eye for natural and organic materials, hand-craftsmanship and artisanal beauty.” You won’t be able to stop snapping pictures.
It is important to note that the hotel mineral hot spring pools are strictly 21+. They do offer a selection of offsite casitas that are great for families (kids are allowed to stay in those) or larger groups. Those have private mineral springs soaking tubs and also include day passes to the resort amenities. But guests under 21 will still not be able to use the mineral pools at the resort.
The Hot Springs

After brunch, we headed straight for the pools. There’s something about soaking in natural hot springs that just melts all the stress away. The mineral water pools are warm and soothing, and the desert backdrop makes it feel like you’ve truly unplugged. We lounged, we floated, and we laughed way too hard. If you’re into a little more activity, they also have a poolside bar, comfy hammocks, and a few shaded spots that are perfect for catching up with friends.
Spa, Music and More

One thing I love about Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel is that it’s not just a hotel—it’s kind of a community hangout. They often host live music, which adds such a fun energy to the desert setting. On some weekends, there’s even an outdoor market set up with local vendors selling unique, handmade finds. It’s such a cool bonus—you can leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry or art while still rocking your pool hair.
We were lucky enough to get to try (and buy) some wines from a nearby winery while we were there.
There is not a full-service spa on site at the Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel–at least not yet. But they did just start offering massages on site, and their plans include the addition of a full-service salon that will be built as well. I enjoyed a poolside chair massage, which was fantastic! Next time, I will definitely book a longer massage or other spa service if available.
Would I Go Back?

Absolutely. Whether you’re staying overnight or just grabbing a resort pass for the day, Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel makes for the perfect little getaway. It’s an easy drive from San Diego, and it feels like you’ve stepped into another world. Next time, we’re already talking about staying the night so we can catch the sunset and maybe another round of those cocktails. It’s important to note though, this place fills up fast! When we were looking to book for a weekend, it was already completely booked up for weekend stays for 3 months out.
So if you’re looking for a spot to gather your besties, enjoy some good food, soak in the springs, and maybe even dance a little to live music, Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel should definitely be on your list.
