San Clemente Inn California: A Family Resort

I have gone to San Clemente pretty much every summer over my life. When I was growing up, we only took a couple vacations a year. We’d go beach camping every summer, desert camping every winter, and we’d spend a week at the San Clemente Inn California, where my grandparents owned a timeshare. Eventually my parents bought a timeshare there as well, as did my sister and then my aunt and uncle. So now we have a large group of family who continues this tradition year after year.
Should We Stay at the San Clemente Inn California?

Whether you are visiting San Clemente for a youth sports tournament, or you’re vacationing there, I think the San Clemente Inn is an excellent option for families. There are so many family-friendly amenities there, and my kids truly love everything about it. There’s a great game room that keeps them entertained for hours. There are also organized events such as bingo, making tie-dye shirts, yoga, and more.
Rooms at the San Clemente Inn sleep anywhere from 2-6 people. The rooms that sleep 6 have two bathrooms, making it ideal for larger groups. Plus each room at the San Clemente Inn California has a kitchenette, making it easy to do your own cooking.
There is also a restaurant on site at the San Clemente Inn, which is great for ordering food to enjoy poolside, or for quick and easy meals with the family.

What is There to do in San Clemente?

There are so many fun things to do in San Clemente. Besides the beach, there are also lots of cute shops and great restaurants. When you stay at San Clemente Inn California, you’re just a 5-minute drive from the San Clemente Pier and Del Mar St., which is full of boutiques and restaurants.
You can walk to the beach from the San Clemente Inn, but you will have to navigate a semi-steep hill on your way back. It’s a nice option on busy summer days though, so you don’t have to fight for parking or pay the meters. The San Clemente State Beach campground is also just a quick walk away. This is one of our favorite Southern California beach campgrounds. We love walking the campground at night and watching the sunset. That’s especially convenient if you have friends who might be beach camping during your stay.

San Clemente is also very central to some family of Southern California’s biggest attractions.
- Dana Point
- Balboa Island
- Wild Rivers Water Park
- Catalina Island
- Disneyland
- Legoland
- Los Angeles
- Mission San Juan Capistrano
