A lot of people don’t realize that the timeframe of when you book your Disney cruise actually matters. That’s because Disney uses a tiered pricing system, and the further out the cruise is, the less it costs. As the cruise date approaches, the price may increase.

In addition to a lower price, you will also have more time to pay your cruise off when you book it early. The cruise needs to be paid in full between 90 and 120 days before you set sail (depending on the length of the cruise). So if you pay the deposit earlier, you have more time to save money.

The best time to book Disney cruise vacations may be while you’re on currently on one. If you are on a Disney cruise and put down a deposit for a future cruise, you can save 10% and pay a smaller deposit as well. This is an on-board only option and may not be applicable to all sailings.

Selection of Staterooms

Besides getting a better pricing, the best time to book Disney cruise vacations is always as far out as you can. That way you can book a better stateroom (there are many different stateroom options, and some are very limited). Most staterooms can fit up to five people, but some only fit four. If you’re looking to cruise with a family of 5, you need to make sure to book early enough that you have that option.

The location of the stateroom is another thing to factor in. Many people prefer to be near the middle of the ship in order to feel less movement and to be more central to all the fun activities on board. Having a stateroom with a verandah is one of the Disney extras I recommend you splurge on if you can swing it.

People are always asking when the best time to set sail is, and that entirely depends on where you are going. Certain cruise itineraries are only available certain times of year (such as Alaskan cruises in the late spring and summer). Disney cruises to the Caribbean go year round, although in the warmer summer months, you do need to be cautious of it being hurricane season.

Travelling during school breaks will always cost more (and book up earlier) than other times of year. If you don’t need to schedule travel around a school schedule, try booking in an off week to save a considerable amount of money.
