Fun Things to Do in Arlington, Texas

Heading to AT&T Stadium is one of the many fun things to do in Arlington Texas

My family and I are big Packers fans. Our goal is eventually to catch a game at every NFL stadium, which I’m all for because that’s a lot of vacations in new cities that I might not otherwise travel to. When I learned that the Dallas Cowboys don’t actually play in Dallas, but in Arlington, Texas, I was worried it was going to be a small town with nothing to offer. But boy was I wrong. There are so many fun things to do in Arlington, Texas. And because it is so close to Dallas, you can easily bit both cities while you’re there.

Nestled between Dallas and Fort Worth, Arlington is the perfect spot for sports fans, families, and anyone who loves a good mix of excitement and relaxation. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just passing through, here are some of the most fun things to do in Arlington.

Catch a Game at AT&T Stadium – One of the best things to do for football fans in Arlington, Texas

Watching the Cowboys play is a fun thing to do in Arlington Texas

As I mentioned, AT&T Stadium is what brought us to Arlington. If you’re a sports fan, Arlington is your playground. AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, is a must-see. If you can score game tickets, it’ll be an experience you won’t forget. Even if you’re not in town for a game, you can still book a stadium tour to see the locker rooms, field, and even that massive jumbotron. It’s one of the most impressive stadiums in the country.

Right across the street, you’ll find Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers. Baseball fans will love catching a game here, but the stadium itself is worth exploring too. With a retractable roof, you’ll be comfortable no matter the weather.

Get Your Thrill on at Six Flags Over Texas – One of the best things to do with older kids in Arlington, Texas

Six Flags Over Texas is one of the most fun things to do in Arlington, Texas

Six Flags Over Texas is an Arlington classic. From thrilling roller coasters like the Texas Giant to family-friendly rides and shows, it’s a full day of fun. If you’re visiting in the summer, don’t forget Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the nearby water park, to cool off.

The hotel we stayed at, Hyatt Place Arlington, was just across the street from Six Flags. We loved watching the rollercoasters and the massively-high swings, and choosing which rides we’d go on and which we’d be too terrified to attempt.

Explore the Arlington Museum of Art

If you want a slower pace, the Arlington Museum of Art is a gem. They feature rotating exhibits, often showcasing nationally recognized artists. It’s a great way to sneak in some culture between all the sports and theme parks.

Thanks for reading my post. My name is Jaime and I am a mom to three busy children. When we're not at the soccer and football fields, we try to get away as often as possible. I'm a teacher and my husband is a firefighter, so we mostly get away for long weekends or over the school breaks. I hope to inspire busy families to take time to recoup and relax while making memories on camping trips or cruise ships, or at the fancy resort pool--we love it all!
