Oceanside RV Park

We have had so many soccer tournaments up at the SoCal Sports Complex in Oceanside, CA. The drive from our house to Oceanside is about 45 minutes when there’s no traffic, and sometimes we have early games and need to be there by 7am. It’s nice when we can book a hotel and make a little weekend getaway out of it. However, during the summer months, hotel prices can be crazy high in that beach town, so staying at an Oceanside RV park is a nice option to have.
For this past weekend’s tournament, I decided to look into bringing the RV up and staying at the Oceanside RV Resort. A few cancellations popped up during the week, so I snagged a Saturday night, and we were set to make a weekend up there.

This was our first time staying at an RV resort, so I prepped the kids by telling them that this wouldn’t be camping. I described it as essentially staying in a hotel, but bringing our own room. I’m glad I did because when we arrived, they were completely thrown off and were saying, “This is just a parking lot!”

Once we got past the initial “shock,” the kids started checking the place out. They were pleased to see the pool, and they noticed a lot of kids riding their bikes around the Oceanside RV park.

Amenities at the Oceanside RV Park
The Oceanside RV Resort is a Thousand Trails resort. All sites have full hookups, including a cable TV connection. Some sites are labeled as premium or premium plus, but these are just larger sites that might have a table and might have some shade. There are also a few tent sites.

Inside this Thousand Trails RV resort there is a heated swimming pool and spa, a large fire pit, a small mini golf area, a small dog park, and a rec room with games. In addition, there is a welcome center and store, bicycle rentals and kitchen rental options.

Besides all of these amenities, the Oceanside RV Resort is located just a 10-minute walk away from a couple of Oceanside beaches. And the resort lists boogie board rentals as another amenity offered to their guests. We didn’t have time to check out the beach on this trip because of our soccer schedule, but we did spend some time at the pool in between games.

Final Thoughts
This Oceanside RV park was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. They were able to accommodate us arriving early so that we could head out to our first soccer game after setting up the RV. Typically check in time is at 1pm and check out is at 11am, but they let us pull right in after the previous occupants vacated the site.
I also got a few text messages while we were there inviting us to an ice cream sundae social on Sunday, so it appears they hold some fun events throughout the week.

One thing to be aware of is the train goes right by the RV park. We heard it a few times in the night, but it wasn’t too bad. The kids didn’t seem to notice it once they fell asleep.
Overall, I was pleased with our experience, and I would definitely come back to the Oceanside RV park. We paid $130 for the night at our site. The hotels in the area were all significantly more than that for a Saturday night. There is another RV resort nearby, but they had a 2-night minimum to stay there.
