Top Amenities at Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort

We were so excited to finally stay at the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas recently. It’s a resort I’ve had my eye on for awhile, and I had pretty high expectations for it. This desert escape blends luxury, family fun, and a touch of indulgence. Our stay at the Grand Hyatt, formerly known as the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa, was pretty amazing overall. But there are a couple of quirks worth noting. Here’s my honest take.

You can also book free nights at this Grand Hyatt resort by using points. You’d need to open the Chase Sapphire card and meet the spending requirement to get your bonus points. Then create a free Hyatt account, and transfer your points there. This resort typically costs about 15k – 25k points per night, but the 60,000 bonus points you get will more than cover a couple of nights.
🌴 First Impressions

The Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa is nestled in the heart of Indian Wells, surrounded by palm trees and mountain views. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the atmosphere strikes a balance between upscale and relaxed.
When you arrive, you will have the option to valet your car or park in the paid overnight parking area. Parking was $30/ night for the self park on our recent visit.
We were visiting on a busy holiday weekend, so early check in was not guaranteed and we were told it was unlikely. However, our room ended up being ready several hours before check in, which was a huge perk.
🛏️ Standard Rooms: Spacious Comfort with a View

The standard rooms at Grand Hyatt Indian Wells measure approximately 550 square feet, offering ample space to relax and unwind. You can choose between a king bed or two queen beds, depending on your preference. We went with the king bed for our family of 5. It had a sofa bed that could fit two kids, plus extra room on the couch for the third kid.
Each room features a private balcony or patio, perfect for enjoying the serene views of the surrounding gardens or mountains. The interiors are thoughtfully designed with modern amenities, including:
- 65-inch flat-screen TV
- Coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea
- Mini-fridge
- In-room safe
- Spacious work desk
- Luxurious bathroom with Balmain toiletries
🏡 The Villas: Your Private Desert Oasis

For those seeking a more secluded experience, the resort offers 43 villas ranging from one to two bedrooms. Each villa features:
- Spacious living areas with fireplaces
- Dining areas equipped with wet bars
- Private patios furnished with BBQ grills
- Options for hot tubs, plunge pools, or fire pits
These villas provide a home-away-from-home feel, perfect for families or groups desiring extra space and privacy.
💦 Amenities Galore at the Grand Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa

The Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa has one of the best pools in the Palm Springs area. Plus, it boasts a plethora of other amenities to keep guests entertained and relaxed:
- HyTides Waterpark: Featuring 150-foot dueling waterslides, a 450-foot lazy river, a toddler slide, and a splash pad—fun for all ages.
- Nine Pools: Including an adults-only Oasis pool for serene relaxation.
- Agua Serena Spa: A 30,000-square-foot spa offering a range of treatments and wellness experiences.
- Fitness Center: Open 24/7, equipped with Peloton bikes and offering various fitness classes.
- Dining Options: From the Southwest-inspired Tía Carmen to poolside snacks, there’s a variety of culinary delights to explore.
The poolside food included pizza, chicken tenders, burgers, etc. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The market inside the lobby also had sandwiches and salads and was actually quite reasonable.
🧒 Family-Friendly Features

The resort is well-equipped for families, offering:
- Kids’ Activities: Including arts & crafts, board games, and movie nights.
- Camp Mascots: Meet Spike the bearded dragon and Shelly the tortoise for some educational fun.
- Dive-In Movies: Enjoy films while floating in the pool—a hit with both kids and adults.
- Complimentary Bike Rentals
😕 What Could Be Improved at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa
While the resort offers many positives, there were a couple of aspects that detracted from the overall experience:
1. Air Conditioning Limitations
The air conditioning in the rooms isn’t able to be set to below 70 degrees Fahrenheit. For those who love a cooler room, especially in the brutal summer months, this could be something to consider. It was about 97 degrees when we visited, and 70 degrees felt cool, but my husband would have still preferred cooler at night.
2. Prizes for Kids
There were a lot of activities while we were there–like bingo and corn hole competitions. That part was great. But when kids won the activities, they were awarded with something out of a treasure chest (which was basically bubble). If adults won, they could choose Dip and Dots.
We’ve stayed at many Palm Springs resorts that do fun games–cannonball competitions, water balloon tosses, and bingo, etc. Usually the prize is some kind of popsicle or ICEE. Not bubbles. It seemed very frugal for such a nice resort to only allow the adults to win the $9 dip and dots.
3. Seating by the Pools
Seating was very limited in the pool areas. I know this is an issue at many resorts during the hotter seasons, but this resort felt even more limited than many of the others. We had to set up in the adults-only area on one of the days, just to have a spot to put our stuff down because there wasn’t an empty seat anywhere else. Obviously our kids couldn’t go in there, but we could at least put our towels and books there.
✅ Final Thoughts on the Grand Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa

The Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas offers a luxurious and family-friendly environment with a wide range of amenities to suit various preferences. While there were a few notable drawbacks, the overall experience remains positive, especially for those seeking a blend of relaxation and recreation in the desert.
