Best Hotels for Families in Maui

In case you’re new to my blog, you should know that I love a good resort pool. Lazy rivers, water slides, poolside drinks… I love it all. And even when I stay in Maui, where the beaches are beautiful, I still want a nice pool to relax at when I’m at the hotel. I also want close proximity to the beach. Especially when I have my kids with me. The easier the better, and if there is a beach we can walk to without having to deal with parking, that’s about as easy as it can get. The following hotels have earned a place in my heart and a place on my list of the best hotels for families Maui edition.
Maui is definitely one of our favorite Hawaiian islands. There are great hikes, beautiful beaches and lots of cute towns to visit. Plus, the Road to Hana is a fun experience with lots of opportunity for exploring. You can see all of my favorite activities in this 5-day Maui itinerary.
Maui also has a spectacular dining scene. Check out this list of the best restaurants in Maui.

The Grand Wailea – An upscale hotel in Maui for families

The Grand Wailea is arguably one of the nicest hotels on Maui, and it’s an excellent choice to stay at with kids for many reasons. The pools at this resort are hard to beat. There are several different pools to choose from, 4 waterslides, a lazy river, waterfalls and even a rope swing.
There are tons of activities on site for the kids to take part in, including a kids club and various water activities, but like at most luxurious resorts, these things come with a price tag. Right outside your resort, however, you will find beautiful Wailea Beach, which is one of my favorite beaches for kids on all of Maui.
Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka’anapali – My personal favorite Maui family resort

I love Ka’anapali Beach and Lahaina, so I typically choose to stay on that side of the island. There are numerous resorts to choose from over there, many that make my list of best hotels for families Maui, but the Westin Maui Resort & Spa is one of my favorite Ka’anapali resorts. This Maui resort has 5 different pools, a couple of waterslides, and convenient beach access. Plus it’s a short walk to Black Rock Beach from here–a favorite spot for snorkeling and cliff jumping.
This Maui family resort has an on-site luau available if you’re looking to experience this fun Hawaiian tradition. It also offers paid kids club options, if you’re looking to get a few hours to yourself.
Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas

Not far from the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, you’ll find the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas. Part of the Marriott Vacation Club, these Marriott resort villas provide spacious rooms with separate living spaces, kitchens and even washers and dryers. And there’s no shortage of entertainment on the property. You’ll find several pools, water play structures, playgrounds and more, as well as a beautiful beach just steps away.
Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa

Six pools, a 150′ waterslide, a rope bridge and waterfalls are just some of the amazing features you’ll find at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. In addition to the fun pool areas, this beach-front family resort on Maui also provides easy beach access. And if you have the World of Hyatt credit card, you can book free nights at this resort.
You’ll find penguins at this resort (I know, in Hawaii–you would’ve thought??) And this Hyatt resort hosts several on-site events, like their on-site luau and a mermaid swim academy, giving you easy access to lots of fun.
Wailea Beach Resort – Beautiful Maui family resort

Want to know where to find the longest waterslide in all of Hawaii? I’ll give you one guess. Yep, at the Wailea Beach Resort. Located right next to the upscale Grand Wailea Resort, the Wailea Beach Resort offers some amazing amenities at a much lower price point. It definitely deserves a spot on my list of best hotels for families Maui.
In addition to the spectacular waterslides, the Wailea Beach resort has lots for your kids to do. There are lawn games and a game room complete with a movie theater. There is also a kids club, however it’s only open seasonally. And just a quick stroll down the beach path will get you to the beautiful Wailea Beach.
Fairmont Kea Lani – One of the best hotels for families in Maui

The Fairmont Kea Lani is a luxury hotel that is going to cost a bit more than some of the other hotels on this list, but with that comes some extra perks as well. First off, the rooms at this hotel are all suites. One, two and three-bedroom suites. So space is not an issue. Having a family of 5 myself, I know it’s always a struggle to figure out how to fit everyone and who gets which bed. These spacious rooms eliminate that struggle.
Another perk of this Maui family resort is that the pools are open 24 hours a day. That can also be a negative, depending on where your room is. But while your kids are adjusting to the time changes, you don’t need to worry about any strict pool schedule. You are free to enjoy it at all hours. And the pools are a lot of fun. You’ll find a 140′ waterslide, a basketball hoop and a separate kids pool. Added bonus: complimentary sunscreen is available at the pool.
Included in the resort fee is a kids club for kids between the ages of 5-12, and there are also activities at the resort that the kids will enjoy, like the Koi feedings and Mermaid University.
